Privacy without closing the view
Trees, courtyards and changes in level can protect a room without making it feel enclosed.
Build from the landscape
A screen of planting can filter a view while still admitting daylight. A courtyard can turn a room inward, giving it an outlook that belongs to the house rather than the street.
Choose the sightline
